On holidays such as Christmas, Thanksgiving, and the 4th of July, we (the Coghlans) all sit at the table and discuss why we celebrate. Dad always tells us that we don't actually know the date of Christ's birth. The reason we celebrate Christmas on December 25th is that on December 25th there was a pagan holiday. So the apostles said, "Hey guys. How about instead of doing that, you celebrate this!" And they said, "Yeah!" I'll have to say my favorite Christmas story is called, "Christmas Every Day." It's about a little girl writing a letter to the "Christmas fairy." She asks her to make it Christmas every day. So the first Christmas comes. Then the next morning her brothers and sisters rushed into her room, woke her up, and said, "It's Christmas again! There's a bunch of presents in the library!" The little girl was so excited! She got up and ran down to the library. And her wish had come true! but after about 100-200 Christmases everyone got tiered of it! So the little girl even though she did not want to sound ungrateful wrote to the "Christmas fairy" and asked her to stop Christmas! So she did.

We watched a program that said Jesus may have been born in the middle of April and that the wise man arrived in Dec. Interesting idea.
